چکیده

Sarcoidosis is a systemic disorder of unknown etiology, characterized by non-caseating epitheloid granulomas. It has been suggested that sarcoidosis results from exposure to antigens like aerosols and infectious agents in genetically predisposed individuals [2]. Virtually any organ system may be involved. Although the involvement of the abdominal viscera is less frequent as compared to pulmonary and mediastinal diseases, when it occurs, it may mimic more common infectious or neoplastic conditions and pose a perplexing diagnostic problem.

CT of Hepatic Sarcoidosis: Small Nodular Lesions Simulating Metastatic Disease

BACKGROUND Sarcoidosis is a multisystemic inflammatory disease of unknown origin. The lymphoid system and the lungs are the most commonly involved organs. The frequency of signs or symptoms of hepatic involvement is very low. CASE REPORT We present a case of symptomatic granulomatous liver disease secondary to sarcoidosis, mimicking a metastatic disease on ultrasonography and CT. CONCLUSION...

CT-Value (△HU and CT-Value ratioin) differential diagnosis of small hepatocellular carcinoma from focal nodular hyperplasia

Background: The objective was to explore the value of the CT value difference (△HU) and CT value ratio (CVR) between the hepatic arterial (AP), portal (PP), and delayed phases (DP) to differentiate the small Hepatocellular Carcinoma (SHCC, ≤ 3 cm) from the small Focal nodular hyperplasia (SFNH, ≤ 3 cm). Materials and Methods: All the lesions were confirmed by clinically and/or pathologically an...

The role of FDG PET/CT in the evaluation of treatment response in a case of calcified ovarian metastases

Evaluation of calcified metastatic lesions by conventional imaging can be challenging. Ovarian cancer metastases can present with calcification which might increase in size and number following therapy. It is not entirely clear whether these calcifications are associated with tumor response or disease progression. Calcified lesions which do not change in size or configuration are particularly p...

Sarcoidosis with bone involvement mimicking metastatic disease at 18F-FDG PET/CT: problem solving by diffusion whole-body MRI

Bone involvement has been reported in 1-13% of patients with sarcoidosis. Both 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose ((18)F-FDG) Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) and conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are sensitive in detecting sarcoidosis bone lesions, but are not always reliable in differentiating sarcoidosis bone lesions from metastatic disease, thus often requiring bone...

Sarcoidosis manifesting as hepatic and splenic nodules mimicking ovarian cancer metastases: A case report

The current study presents a case of sarcoidosis manifesting as hepatic and splenic nodules, which was difficult to differentiate from ovarian cancer metastases. A 24-year-old female, who was previously diagnosed with right ovarian cancer and underwent surgery at the age of 21, was found to have two nodules in the spleen revealed by contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT). 18F-fluorodeoxyglu...
